Hotmail issues
« on: August 24, 2011, 05:32:58 PM »

Has anybody started seeing delivery issues to Hotmail in the past few days ?

We have a customer that has a long standing high reputation (95+ senderscore , 6 months green IP on SNDS , continuously < 0.1% complaints), had never any issues with Hotmail delivery and since about 10 days they are hitting almost 100% junk placement.

Content has not changed, sendername has not changed, IP's have been the same ... absolutely no apparant reason for this ?

Anybody seeing the same issues by any chance ?

Contacting SNDS team will not help I assume ?

Any ideas on how this happened ? To me it looks like it's been happening since they started shifting towards DKIM testing.

Hello,

Any ideas on how this happened ?

As my opinion, volume waving and/or frequency changing lets SmartScreen Filter acts againest to your ip

Thanks

That is absolutely correct. However, this is not the case with my customer.

They have a daily consistent volume and sent at the same time daily. They have been sending for over 6 months on these IP's without any problem whatsoever, nothing changed.

Just for brain storm; did you checked the outer links inside the newsletter which may be blacklisted?

Yes indeed, the domain cannot be found on any blacklist (as far as those I've found and know on the net)

I mean the outer links inside of the newsletter (not the sender or owner domain) such as abc.om xyz.com etc

It is my understanding that both sender id & dkim is being checked and that if your content has image maps, the problem with deliverability is what you will see. Image maps are no longer supported, ironically google supports it now.

DKIM is only validated if the Sender ID fails.

Bot SenderID and DKIM are working fine , and have been working fine for a long time.
There are no image maps used.

I have had contact with Microsoft Sender Support and they have investigated the issue together with a huge questionaire.
The end result was they had to contact the Symantec Brightmail team to resolve the issue.
They have lifted the block now and delivery is back to normal for this customer.

However, 1 day later , we now have a block on another customer who never ever had problems in the past (last 2 years of sending).

I am 100% sure without a doubt that Microsoft Hotmail is changing "something" on the system somewhere, because customers with a long
standing history of perfect sending all of the sudden start being blocked now without any apparent reason.

Just an update .... no changes in sending, no change whatsoever, and we are being blocked again  :-X :-X

What a nightmare, months and months of perfect sending, good reputation, no changes and all of the sudden this customer
can't deliver anymore mail to Hotmail  :o

This is a daily deal business that sends out their daily deal campaigns.
Don't know what you mean with "old mails" ?

They have a CTR of around 3.8% - 4.0%
