On which OS do you run PowerMTA?
« on: February 13, 2008, 10:51:17 AM »

We're trying to gauge which platforms we need to continue supporting, and are looking to see what is currently being used by our customer base.  Thanks for helping us!!!!

Just out of interest, does PowerMTA run better/quicker on linux rather than Windows?

We currently use Windows 2003 SP2 but could possibly change to linux if it's worth it  ;)

Cheers!

CommunicatorBaz,
We have found that PowerMTA runs just as well on both operating systems, so it is really a personal choice as to which OS you want to run.

Is PowerMTA compatible with Windows Server 2008, 64 bit edition?

I have tested on that OS, and it should work fine, but will run in 32bit mode.

windows is not stable.

As a note, PowerMTA is perfectly stable in a Windows environment, as long as the Windows environment is stable.

Well , I'm running little over 300 webservers , mix of Windows Server 2003 and 2008. Some of them IIS , some of them Apache ....
I can safely say that I know what I'm talking about when saying they run stable . It only requires a knwoledgable admin to maintain
the systems , just as *nix does  ;)

Anyways, we're running PowerMTA on Windows Server 2008 (but that's not included in the poll options)

We've had a great experience with PMTA on Linux and CentOS. Setup was easy and it's been running smoothly for almost 2 months now.

Why don't you have a 64 bit installer for Windows, when you have them for Linux?  Are there issues with pmta when it runs in 64 bit mode?  (Does it even have a 64 bit mode!? ???)

We are currently in the process of developing a 43bit Windows version.  There is no time frame for release.
