Hotmail Auth Results
« on: June 03, 2011, 05:27:32 AM »

Hello,

We just noticed, Hotmail added a line to the top of header of their receiving e-mails. Here is a sample:

Authentication-Results: hotmail.com; sender-id=pass (sender IP is xx.xx.xx.xx) header.from=sender@n-mailer.net; dkim=neutral header.d=n-mailer.net; x-hmca=pass

This is the Auth part of Yahoo! header of same e-mail:

Authentication-Results: mta1175.mail.mud.yahoo.com  from=n-mailer.net; domainkeys=pass (ok);  from=n-mailer.net; dkim=pass (ok)

Did anyone notice this?

Thanks

Yes indeed, we are seeing the same issue.
Although it does not seem to affect deliverability .

I think Hotmail are getting ready to start looking for DKIM, but until they are fully prepared they are just going to list everyone as "neutral".

What is better DK or DKIM? In other words should both be used or just one?

Interesting, and the page was last modified on 6/3/2011. It probably doesn't matter if you just use DKIM.

It depends, see here:

There are very few ISP's that still use DK , however it can't hurt signing ALL messages with both DK and DKIM  ;)

Hi,

Here is new appears in Hotmail headers. It seems they are testing via us :)

Authentication-Results: hotmail.com; sender-id=temperror (sender IP is xx.xx.xx.xx) header.from=sender@domain.com; dkim=permerror header.d=domain.com; x-hmca=none

X-SID-PRA: =?UTF-8?B?w5ZtZXIgS3Vtb3ZhIMSwbsWfYWF0IE3DvGhlbmRpc2xpaw==?= <sender@domain.com>
X-DKIM-Result: PermError

Looks like a DKIM error, I could be wrong, but I will check.
