For Reputation and Deliverability
« on: September 27, 2011, 01:57:22 PM »

At the moment, we are sending mail on multiple IP's, but on one authenticated domain.

Will it help reputation to have a single domain for each individual IP?

All our IP's are currently shared by our clients.

What are ISP looking for nowadays?

Any feedback/suggestions will be appreciated.

If any of your customers are doing spam, this would affect your overall reputation since you would be using one domain.
If you assign dedicated ips to your customers, then every ip would have its own reputation unaffected from nearbys.
But again there is an advantage of having all customers in one domain, bad customer reputation will be balanced by good ones.

Thanks for feedback.

But let's assume all IP's are shared and none dedicated to just one user. In this case, what should be done for optimum deliverability?

In your case, all customers would use the same ip.You might use same from domain for all customers. If you do so,all customers will have the same reputation.
If you use different from domains, then you might see different results sent to general domain names(some customers might inbox and some might junk.)

But when it comes to big ISPs like yahoo, aol, hotmail, gmail , it would not make much difference to use different mailfroms as they mostly care on the ip reputation.
Hope this helps.

Thanks again very helpful.

Had one more question, I've seen on this forum and have heard elsewhere that it's a good idea to send to major ISP's (Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, Aol) with same IP and not break up all over all IP's.

Is it a good idea to have specific IP's sending only to same ISP all the time? Does this build better reputation for that IP since it's always sending to same ISP?

Those ISP's you have mentioned are the ones which have their own ip reputation measurements unlike other small fishes.
So if you want to have a good reputation, send consistently over the same ip.A strong reputation takes 90 days,at least.

Correct, with the exception of Yahoo. yahoo has shifted towards weighing the FROM into their decision system.
And not just a little bit, but it has a rather heavy weight in the decision factor.

You are correct, too.I have seen this on several customers. With a good mailfrom, your way is to the inbox.
