Cleaning lists
« on: December 22, 2017, 04:51:06 PM »

All ISPs recommend cleaning up lists from non openers/non clickers on a regular basis.
However, every time we did this, our delivery suffered.

Does anyone has any recommendations on best practices to do this?

Thank you.

In what way does your deliverability suffer when you're removing non active people?

You certainly have a problem with cleaning practices.

Every time we cleaned up lists, results from resulting list were lower than before cleaning.
We have experienced this with both third party services and in house.

So yes, we may have a problem with cleaning practices and any help is much appreciated.

Thank you.

Bots and Spam Traps will read and even open messages at times. If the users you are targeting are YOUR USERS then there should not be too many issues... if you are purchasing lists or getting lists from a 3rd party... CLEAN at the LEAST.

@ReyM, we are not mailing any purchased lists.
All our subs are generated from our websites via optin forms.

a more targeted question on this would be "for how long should we mail a contact without him opening/clicking)?"

If someone hasn't clicked or opened after 3 campaigns or 3-4 weeks - move them and leave them for 1-2 months. If they dont open a re-up campaign, remove them for good.

Just because the email address came from your website does not mean it is valid or not a spam trap.
