Spamhaus DBL listings
« on: August 02, 2013, 07:19:27 AM »

Hello experts,

We are experiencing a problem with Spamhaus DBL (domain) listings, and I am looking for advice on who to contact at Spamhaus, or what could possibly be causing our problem. I wonder if any of you had seen or experienced the same thing?

We have every single one of our clients setup on their own dedicated IP/pool and their own domain as well. We do this so that each customer is responsible for their own reputation, and also to avoid the appearance of snowshoeing. It also helpful when approaching ISP's or blacklist operators when resolving issues as we can show that we have taken the appropriate action against the only possible culprit.

A few days ago we found that every single one of our customers sending domains were listed in the Spamhaus DBL simultaneously. Now according to their FAQ the DBL is mostly an automated blacklist which is fed by spamtraps and mail flow monitoring. So obviously one of our customers has been bad (probably sending to a non opt in list, or bad content) which caused this listing widespread to occur. The problem is because every single one of our domains is listed we can't tell who the bad customer is to take the appropriate action and terminate their account.

We would like to reach out to Spamhaus to get them to provide us with some feedback so we can eliminate the bad apple altogether.

Has anyone else every seen this happen? How did you resolve the issue? Are there any known channels into Spamhaus on the DBL side to discuss the issue and the best possible resolution?

Hey,
From time to time this happens.
I just go to spamhaus website and delist our domains.
Try this and just monitor for a week or so.If nothing happens, then you are good to go.

Hi Calvin,

Great thanks for your advice. We have done this exactly with half of the domains. They stayed off for some time, but then later all became resisted again at the same time.

We want to weed out the bad apple and get rid of him altogether.
