Hotmail Socket error, status = WSAECONNRESET

Hi All,

Im wondering if anyone else has noticed this.  We in the last month or so have noticed Hotmail are accepting our mail less, and our queues are always high for them.  The most common error is this...

Socket error, status = WSAECONNRESET while connected from mail.mydomain.com (172.16.12.41:25004) to mx3.hotmail.com (65.55.37.120)

Its not a complete block though, i can get emails through, but they trickle in compared to what they did before.  The only thing I can really find on this out there is this...

Which i find pretty useless as I am doing all that anyway.  Its just like they are being more fussy with complaints, quantity, etc.

Just wondering if any of you have seen this, what you have done?

Hello,

Yes, as we experienced and think; Microsoft and Yahoo! confidently changed their policies and no document and information out there since now.

They also wanted us re-reputate some of our ips which were runing since 4 years without any notice. This sounds us, bulk mailing rules changing something like forcing people certificate or indivudial mailing :(

Lets wait and see what happens

Since Hotmail (amongst others) is evolving towards engagement based reputation, more and more senders are seeing these issues (along with blocks and deferals).
Look at your open rates, click rates, complaint rates .... send only to engaged audiences. Consider maybe re-optin campaigns ...

Thanks for the replies.

Not so simple to control engagaement as much due to us being an ESP, so its about all of our customers to do this.
