gmail closing connections
« on: August 28, 2012, 10:22:09 AM »

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone has some useful insight into the below error message from GMAIL. I've been seeing this more and more with some of our PMTAs. My guess is my domain settings may not be correct for gmail. I've tried playing around with them a bit but nothing has really seemed to work.

"Error: connection closed by the remote host while connected from mta1.xxx.com (207.x.x.x:27280) to alt2.gmail-smtp-in.l.google.COM (173.194.65.27)". Clearly gmail is closing the connections, but I'm not quite sure why.

These are the settings I have:

<domain gmail.com>
    max-smtp-out              12
    max-msg-per-connection    200
    bounce-after              24h
    backoff-to-normal-after   1m
</domain>

Any suggestions or insight would be helpful. Thanks.

This is just the last error that gmail is returning that PowerMTA is reporting in the interface.  If you run the trace command for the queue or enable log-commands for the queue, you almost certainly will see more detail to the source of the issue.
