DMARC and subdomains
« on: February 11, 2016, 01:05:01 PM »

Hi All,

I have a question regarding dmarc records and subdomains.

In most of my scenarios, I've created a dmarc txt record at the parent domain level/zone file. However, this time around, a client has delegated a subdomain on our behalf.

We do not want to interfere with the top level domain.

I found this example from here
https://agari.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/202952819-Using-a-Subdomain-Policy-with-DMARC

_dmarc.subdomain.example.com

"v=DMARC1;p=reject;rua=mailto:yourorg@rua.agari.com;ruf=mailto:yourorg@ruf.agari.com;"

I believe it is correct but I wanted to see how the rest of community would handle this.

So you want to have different DMARC records for subdomain and main domain ? Or just the same ?

Yes, we do not want have anything to do with the main domain. So, specifically controlling the subdomain.
